Job Summary The Produce Lead is responsible for overseeing produce operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, maintaining product quality and freshness, and optimizing inventory management. This role focuses on operational excellence, ensuring compliance with food safety, merchandising, and replenishment standards while supporting business performance. The Produce Lead does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but plays a critical role in ensuring smooth department operations. A valid ServSafe Food Safety CerƟficaƟon is required and must be maintained in good standing. BJ’s covers any applicable cost associated and training. Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities  Lead Produce Department Operations: Maintain produce freshness by executing regular culling and rotation, ensuring all products meet company quality standards.  Manage Inventory Proactively: Ensure proper product availability by monitoring inventory levels and executing timely replenishment to maintain in-stock conditions.  Demonstrates Full Proficiency: Execute operational functions of the department, including the ability to inspect, rotate, cull, and merchandise fresh produce to company standards.  Accurate Item Labeling: Ensure all items are accurately priced, labeled, and in compliance with company policies.  Analyze ProducƟon and Sales: Track and analyze sales, waste, and shrink data to idenƟfy opportuniƟes for process improvements and cost reducƟon.  SanitaƟon and Safety Compliance: Maintain compliance with all sanitaƟon, safety, and food handling regulaƟons, including ServSafe guidelines, while ensuring the cleanliness and proper maintenance of meat equipment such as slicers, ovens, and refrigeraƟon units.  Seasonal Promotional Execution: Assist in the execution of promotional plans and merchandising directives.  Report Operational Concerns: Escalate operational concerns and equipment maintenance needs to management as necessary.  Execute proper product rotation: Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation procedures to reduce waste and maintain optimal product quality.  Routine Case Inspections: Conduct daily inspections of produce cases, coolers, and freezers to ensure optimal conditions and compliance with food safety standards.  Receiving and Inspection: Assist with receiving and inspecting meat shipments to verify accuracy. SanitaƟon and Safety Compliance: Maintain and operate produce department equipment, ensuring regular cleaning and maintenance to extend the longevity of tools and machinery.  Inventory Audit Support: Support inventory audits and reconciliation efforts to minimize shrink and maintain accurate records.  Stocking Strategy Optimization: Develop and maintain a strong understanding of product movement, seasonal trends, and Member purchasing habits to optimize stocking strategies.  Product Quality Assurance: Monitor product freshness and conduct quality checks to uphold company standards.  Perform other duƟes as assigned: Provide addiƟonal support across departments as needed.  Maintain regular, predictable, full aƩendance: Demonstrate consistent presence to support operaƟons, provide leadership coverage, and ensure smooth club execuƟon. In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $20.00.
